Research
Studies in this program aim to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the neural basis of cognitive processes, including attention, perception, memory, and decision-making. The program focuses on research of the human brain and offers both theoretical and methodological knowledge, including a variety of courses on brain research methods including MRI, EEG as well as behavioral methods.
In the psychobiology department we combine research aspects such as behavioral, physiological, molecular and cellular, to understand how the brain works, and what are the neurobiological properties that are responsible for normal behaviors, as well as abnormal behaviors associated with psychiatric, pathological and neurological conditions. We aim to improve our understanding of these properties, in search for better diagnostic tools and treatments.
The clinical-science program provides training for students in two main fields - clinical/therapeutic and science/research.
In the clinical/therapeutic field, training includes theoretical and practical aspects, with on-site training in the best treatment centers in the Tel-Aviv area.
In the science/research field, training includes focusing on a wide range of psychopathologies and mental states, in an ongoing effort to advance the understanding of underlying mechanisms and to promote novel therapeutic approaches.
Training in both field includes both children and adults.
Research in social psychology examines how people’s feelings, thoughts, behaviors and neural activity, are shaped by their social environment. The topics studied in social psychology include attitudes, decision making, motivation, social neuroscience, intergroup relations, group dynamics, conflict and reconciliation, and gender.
The cognitive program explores the areas of perception, attention, awareness, semantic processing, memory, and decision making. The courses develop skills in theoretical thinking, research methods, big data, and scientific communication. The cognitive program prepares the students to integrate as researchers in academia, industry, and any type of work that requires skills in conducting research.
The program enables outstanding students to be exposed to a variety of methods and fields of knowledge in experimental psychology and to build, under the close supervision of a faculty member, a personal curriculum in accordance with their areas of
interest.
