Ubertalli Violetta

Coming from an international relations and Middle Eastern studies background, I decided to complete my training and gain new research skills with a PhD in political science. I believe that in order to act and change our complex reality we should first try to understand it, constantly adopting new perspectives.

My research interests include social integration and privatization processes but also State-society relations and civil society activism. In particular I am interested in exploring the world of the so-called fully private social services in the Israeli case, which include all those welfare services that are provided by private bodies in case of an unmet demand from the State. This theme raises important political and social questions related to how indirect privatization policies affect welfare and mainly marginalized populations and the creative skills of the society in finding innovative solutions to answer its needs.
