Goldman Fellows 2013-2014

Senior Fellows:

 

Gil Shaki is the Senior Director, Energy & Clean tech in the Office of the Chief Scientist, Ministry of Economy. In recent years, as part of the Office of the Chief Scientist management team, he was responsible for the OCS' support programs and activities focused in the energy and clean tech sectors (water, renewable energies, oil alternatives, reducing GHG emissions, green growth strategy); represented Israel at OECD's Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP); involved in designing and launching various new incentive programs aimed at investors, traditional industries and R&D in financial sector; involved in OCS international cooperation policy and activities.Before that Mr. Shaki was head of commercial departments at Israel's embassies in New Delhi, Madrid and Lisbon, assisting Israeli companies and service providers penetrating local markets and forming collaborations with local partners as well as attracting investments to the Israel. Previous to that he worked as an economist in the Investment Center of Ministry of Industry, Trade & Labor and in the Logistic and Technology department in the IDF (Israeli Defense Force).
Gil holds an MBA  and B.A. in Economics and the Studies of the Middle East, all from Bar Ilan University. He is fluent in Hebrew, English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

 

Michal Nir works in the Survey Department in the Central Bureau of Statistics of Israel.  As a senior survey methodologist, she develops research programs, aimed to enhance the effectiveness of conducting large scale surveys, and tutors others in the organization on their implementation in the field. Having a long and rich experience in teaching and training, she also constructs lesson plans and develops training programs, used to enhance the knowledge, efficiency and professionalism of employees in the organization. In the course of her work she wrote several working papers, some published in journals and conferences. Michal Nir holds an M.Sc in Organizational behavior from the Business Faculty in Tel Aviv University.


Junior Fellows:


 

Chen Lederman-Shalom holds a B.A degree with honors in Political Science and International Relations from the Open University of Israel. She is currently writing her thesis at Tel-Aviv University on the structural tensions within employment-relations of documented foreign workers in the care giving sector in Israel.  Chen works as a teacher assistant at Tel-Aviv University, and previously volunteered at Hoshen- the education and information center of the LGBT community in Israel- as a directorate member, training staff member, and educational activities volunteer.

 

Tammy Caner holds an LL.B. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a student at the Abba Eban Graduate Studies program in Diplomacy at Tel Aviv University. Her thesis deals with Just War Theory in Civil Wars, examining legal and ethical questions in internal conflicts. Tammy is a teaching assistant of Dr. Uriel Abolof in "International Relations and Strategy" course of Professor Tami Meisels in "Political Theory" course, both in Tel Aviv University. She has worked as a corporate lawyer for several years following completion of internship at the National Labor Court in Jerusalem under the supervision of Justice Elisheva Barak. She has also worked as a research and teaching assistant for National Labor Court Chief Justice M. Goldberg (retired) (Labor Law), and for Supreme Court Justice S. Nethanyahu (Retired) (Insurance Law), both in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

 

Adi Davidovich holds a B.Sc in Industrial Engineering (specialization in Information Systems) from Ben-Gurion University. She is currently writing her M.A thesis at Tel Aviv University, Porter school of Environmental studies, about positive psychology as a policy tool for encouraging environmental behavior. Adi is an intern at "Life and Environment" organization under the Porter Internship Program. She also works at the Green Businesses Project of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa Municipality in collaboration with various business entities in Tel-Aviv.

 

Gil Bar'am holds a B.A in History and Political Science from Tel Aviv University. She is currently completing her M.A thesis (with honors) at Tel Aviv University in the Security Studies Program, which deals with the "Effect of Cyberwar Technologies on Force Buildup of the United States and Israel" in the past decade. She is a researcher at the "Yuval Nee'man workshop for Science, Technology and Security" at Tel Aviv University and conducts researches focusing on space policy and cyber warfare.

 

Avital Eshet is a lawyer who holds a BA in Economics (joint program of Law and Economics) from Haifa University. Her business experience consists of financial consultancy for international project finance and foreign trade transactions in the fields of real estate, infrastructure and renewable energy. She is currently completing a Master's degree in Environmental Studies at Tel Aviv University, focusing on regulatory and economic aspects of environmental issues. Her Master's dissertation deals with sustainable finance.

 

Nimrod Bousso is a Political Science graduate student at the Tel Aviv University, specializes in Public Policy. He is currently writing his M.A. thesis, which examines the Israeli policies of land allocation and the way in which various groups of interest may affect it. Nimrod holds a B.A. degree with honors from the Philosophy department and the Political Science department at the Tel Aviv University. Alongside his academic work, Nimrod is the real estate reporter at the "The Marker" daily economic newspaper from Haaretz Media Group. In this role, Nimrod practices the ongoing daily reports considering the land and housing issues in Israel, and publishes opinion and analysis pieces.
